Youth Development Professional (Multiple Locations) Full-time Job

Boys & Girls Club of Hernando County (BGCHC) provides fun, engaging, and educational before-and-after school programming within Hernando County’s public schools. We also provide early childhood education at seven preschool locations. Our mission is to enable children, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.

In your job as a Youth Development Professional in the before-and-after program at our locations in Spring Hill, Brooksville or Weeki Wachee, you work a split shift schedule. Typically, it will be 6:15-8:30am and 2:00-6:00pm. You run your group of up to 25 elementary school-aged children and lead them through physical, social-emotional, and creative activities.

If you want additional hours, they are available! There is a preschool at this location as well as several nearby locations that always need a helping hand during the middle of the day.

Lesson plans are prepared for you, so all you need to do is follow your schedule and have fun! Members aren’t made to stand in straight lines or raise their hands to leave their seat. This is an engaging before-and-after school program and we want the children to have FUN and look forward to coming to the Club every day! You don’t stand to the side and watch the kids play, you play with them!

You have to complete paperwork like attendance, incident/accident reports, and guidance notices. You manage difficult behaviors. You clean up messes. But most importantly, you build relationships, act as a mentor and support the children that need us most.

If you are thinking about a career as a teacher, this is a great entry-level position. If you’re a college student with a flexible schedule, this is a fantastic job. If you work in the healthcare industry as a CNA in assisted living facilities but are feeling burnt out, this is a great alternative.

Schedule

• Monday through Friday
• 25-39 hours/week, depending on your flexibility, reliability and dedication.
• Split Shift, approximately 6:15 - 8:30 AM AND 2:00 - 6:00 PM.
