We are seeking a Line Cook to join our team! The ideal candidate will have full availability and well rounded experience to be utilized in all areas. The shift is a 5 day schedule from 6AM-2PM. The Line Cook prepares and serves nutritious and attractive meals in accordance with state regulations and Amavida policies and procedures to ensure that quality food service is provided at all times. Under the direction of the Executive Chef, the Line Cook is responsible for all areas of meal preparation, serving and clean-up.

Qualifications

· High school diploma or equivalent required.

· At least one (1) year food service experience in a commercial setting.

· Individuals must also be able to read, write, and speak the English language and be able to communicate effectively with residents, family, and staff.

· Individual must be able to use math to compute recipes and costing, as well as possess skills in preparing specialized dishes for specific diets.

Essential Functions

  • Prepares and serves all meals for assigned shifts including special events.
  • Ensures all leftovers are covered, labeled, dated and stored in the proper place.
  • Assist with monthly inventory of all food and non-food supplies. Assist with placing food orders to meet menu requirements, processing of deliveries, and storing food and non-food supplies.
  • Responsible for portion control, following the menus and time schedules and plate presentation for each meal. Uses proper tasting techniques to insure quality taste and palatability prior to serving.
  • Adherence to all sanitation, food handling, safety policies, procedures and authorities.
  • Remove from service all cracked or broken dishes or damaged utensils which might be hazardous to residents and staff. Notify the Food Service Director of damage.
  • Assure that all food & beverage protocols and procedures are followed in accordance with established policies.
  • Maintain personal appearance and hygiene standards according to established procedures.
  • Store dishes, glassware, and utensils properly.
  • Follow established methods of meal preparation and presentation.
  • Ensure that all electrical and gas appliances are turned off before leaving kitchen area and at end of the shift.
  • Performs assigned cleaning duties according to established policies and utilizes the proper cleaning chemicals. Keeps work areas clean and uncluttered during meal preparation and service
  • May assist with washing pots, pans, serving utensils, etc. according to established procedures for manual and/or automatic dishwashing. Stores items appropriately to prevent contamination.
  • Attends and participates in all in-service educational classes and on-the-job training programs, etc., as scheduled or directed.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
