As Lightning Therapy’s home health Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant, you will provide one on one therapeutic treatment and care to patients in their home using a comprehensive and patient specific care plan. You will have the opportunity to spend quality time with the patient, in their own home, to promote their health and independence. You will have autonomy and a flexible schedule in addition to the support and collaboration of a team of healthcare professionals. Therapist must be: computer savvy, comfortable with increasing independence and highly organized.

Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant Home Health Responsibilities:

Collaborate with physicians, patients and their families, nurses, therapists, social workers and other members of the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement a patient centered care and treatment plan

Cooperatively utilize varied solutions to educate and promote the health and independence of the patient

Assess, monitor, document and report progress of patient's health and condition using required documents, reports and established timelines

Designing and adapting equipment for living environments, including training assistive devices/equipment to improve participation within the home and community environments

Conducting community reintegration activities to assist individuals with their Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant needs during physical activity

Knowledgeable in directing standardized testing and documenting skilled progress towards client centered goals that adheres to Medicare guidelines and regulations

Essential Job Functions:

As an Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant, you will need to have strong communication skills and work well as part of a team. You must also perform your duties with minimal direct supervision.

Monitor patient's functional status (muscle function, functional activity tolerance, FM/GM coordination, low vision training, written/verbal skills, self-care ability etc.)

Screen home environment for hazards or barriers to more independent living, identify equipment needs and participates in the development of the total plan of care.

Facilitate patients learning of new or retained skills in once familiar daily activities that have been lost due to illness or injury, in accordance with organizational policy.

Instructs patient's family/caregiver and other organization health care personnel in patient's treatment regime when indicated and appropriate.

Participate in discharge planning for patient.

Specific Requirements:

Graduate of a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant curriculum accredited jointly by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation of the American Medical Association and the American Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant Association

Certified with the National Certification Examination of the American Occupational Therapy Association

Resume with two years of clinical experience as an Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant

Current Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant license in the state of Florida

Current CPR certification

Driver's License and Dependable Transportation

Proof of Health Examination within the prior 12 months

Certificate of Insurance for Malpractice

PPD from within the prior twelve (12) months

Hepatitis record or declination

Completed Age-Specific Competency Assessment

HIPAA compliance

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
