The Assistant Director of Recreation is responsible for helping run and maintain a diversified program of individual and group activities which will enable each resident participant to engage in cultural, spiritual, physical, political, social and intellectual activities within the facility and the community in order to sustain and promote an individual’s potential and a sense of usefulness to self and others. Activities shall take into consideration and reflect the age, sex, physical and mental capabilities, interests, and the cultural and social background of the residents.
1. Help run the monthly schedule of activities, and maintain the activities, provide mental physical, emotional, and spiritual stimulation.
2. Work with Activity Director/Administrator to keep facility blog, House Channel (if active), Menu Board and website postings up to date, as necessary.
3. Help schedule, facilitate and collect minutes for the monthly Resident Council meetings, and attend when invited by the council.
4. Assist on trips, supervising residents when out in the community, maintaining their safety at all times.
5. Help in running community activities and services for residents.
6. Protect residents’ rights and mechanisms for their protection.
7. Distribute copies of Activity Calendar and verbally inform those who have difficulty reading postings.
8. Gather residents for activities and snacks and assist in serving of snacks.
9. Actively participate in providing daily activities for all residents.
101. Inform residents/participants and care givers about “sign-up” sheets for trips.
11. Arrange facility participation and transportation for special events.
12. Give out Bingo prizes, games, supplies and materials as necessary for activities program.
13. Maintain Activity Supplies, put things away, Conserve and reduce unnecessary waste or damage to materials.
14. Communicate with Activity Director and Activities Aide(s) and provide direction as needed.
15. Meet with Director to discuss ideas for improving or expanding activities program, or issues that may arise.
16. Inform staff of necessary assistance with week-end activities or special events.
17. Always be polite to residents, and their guests.
18. Follow directives from your supervisor, and any other Administrators on duty.
19. In absence of the Recreation Director, supervise staff, lead programs, and assist in all aspects of running of the department.
20. On occasion, give tours and showcase the facility.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $14.00 - $17.00 per hour
