The Rose Garden of Fort Myers is looking for a energetic, organized person who loves to cook and loves Senior Citizens to join our culinary team!!
POSITION: Cook
Pay Rate: $15.00 to $16.00 (as per experience)
MUST BE ABLE TO PASS A LEVEL II AHCA BACKGROUND CHECK. (Note: Cannot have a Felony even if it is very old)
MUST PASS A DRUG TEST AND TB TEST.
MUST BE ABLE TO WORK WEEKDAYS, ROTATING WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS, AS PER SCHEDULED WEEKLY.
RELATIONSHIP: The Cook reports directly to the Food Services Director and/or Manager.
PURPOSE:
The Cook prepares food in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations with established Plantation Oaks Senior Living policies and procedures. The Food Services Director will direct these duties to ensure that quality food service is provided at all times. We serve breakfast, lunch and dinner for 100 residents 7 days a week. Shift time: 11:30 am to 7:00 pm. (Occasional Shift: 6:00 am to 2:00 pm)
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administrative
Reviews menus, prep/pull sheets/Temp. logs, recipes prior to preparation of food.
Fills out all required Temp logs.
Performs administrative duties such as completing forms, reports, truck orders and inventories
Communication:
Advises supervisor when supplies diminish for reorder.
Communicates effectively with supervisor and kitchen staff Compliance and Safety
Assures all dietary procedures are followed.
Must be able to operate and clean all kitchen equipment safely and effectively.
Equipment may include: meat slicer, food processor, mixers, ovens, grills, steamers, dishwasher, warmer cabinets, etc.
Customer Service:
Interacts with the residents during meals and receives feedback about their dining experience.
Facilities and Maintenance:
Organizes and Cleans walk-in freezer, storeroom, kitchen tables, and counters
Receives, dates and put away food and other storeroom orders/
Assist Food Service Director in taking inventory, Food Services,
Reviews menus and prep guidelines for preparation of food.
Assists in establishing food production line to assure meals are prepared on time
Cook and serve breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks.
Washes pots, pans, etc., as needed.
Helps with trash, mopping, sweeping, as needed.
Knowledge and Experience
Demonstrates the interest and ability to learn new skills and techniques, as needed.
Demonstrates proper usage of equipment.
Earns and maintains Serve-Safe Certification Structure.
Coordinates dietary service with other departments, if necessary.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE- CERTIFICATION
High school diploma or equivalent.
Culinary Arts training preferred
2 years dietary experience in a restaurant (Assisted Living Facility preferred)
ServSafe Certification preferred – ServSafe Mangers Certification (a plus)
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must be able to interact effectively with residents and staff.
Must be able to work effectively with residents and personnel.
Must be able to follow written and oral instructions in English.
Must have knowledge of dietary procedures, was well as related laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to food service operations.
Must possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise professional and non-professional personnel.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Lift up to 50lbs
This is primarily a standing position where an employee may be required to stand in one place for extended periods of time. They also will be exposed to extreme heat and cold temperatures.
