JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director of Assisted Living & Memory Care, the Activities Assistant assists with activities designed to enhance the physical, social, spiritual and mental well-being of each resident. The Activities Assistant demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the residents served.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Lead group activities, designs and executes activity groups and individual activities in accordance with resident’s needs, interests and abilities; reports on Residents’ progress.
- Communicate clearly and effectively, keep order and enforce safety rules with large groups
- Sets up and cleans up areas as needed for various activities
- Leadership, motivational and problem-solving skills to design and implement successful programs while encouraging residents to participate in the programs
- Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
- Distributes mail to residents daily
- Distributes monthly activities calendar
- Maintains accurate documentation of resident’s activity attendance
- Keeps office and storage areas tidy and organized
- Attends in-service trainings and meetings as scheduled
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job
ESSENTIAL MENTAL AND PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS
The essential mental and physical functions listed below are required in order for an employee to be able to perform the essential functions of this position.
- Thinking critically; defined as reading, understanding and taking appropriate action on detailed and complex information
- Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors and the general public
- Walking long distances regularly
- Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs
- Pushing a wheelchair with a resident weighing up to 200 lbs
- Repetitive actions/motion of one or both hands
- Hearing ordinary conversation and office sounds
- Verbal communication in person and on the phone
- Written communication by hand and on PC
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccine is required as a condition of employment while the CMS regulation is in effect.
- High school diploma or GED
- Associates degree in human service or recreation therapy preferred
- Activity Professional Certification preferred
- Experience running activities for Geriatrics and Dementia preferred
- Excellent organizational and verbal and written communication skills
- Computer literacy which includes, but is not limited to, Microsoft Office suite

Pay: $14.50 - $16.75 per hour
