Responsible for all food service-related activities; including patient care, quality improvement, sanitation, infection control and all facility-related food service activities</p><p><b>Position Responsibilities: </b></p><p>- Utilizing knowledge of healthcare food, nutrition, and catering trends, oversee the development of department strategic priorities and operational policies/procedures, maintaining a focus on best practices in food quality, efficiency in production, best sanitation, food cost controls, food presentation, etc.</p><p>- Work closely with Nutrition Department to plan and prepare all regular and special diet menus.</p><p>- Collaborate with others in administrative leadership in defining the strategic and operational plan for department. Communicate plans and continuously evaluate plans.</p><p>- Applies knowledge of clinical nutrition, with emphasis on the needs of various levels of acute care patients, to all policy development and decision making for the department.</p><p>- Oversees department's performance improvement initiatives in preparation for Joint Commission, health department inspections, and any other regulatory agency requirements.</p><p>- Develops and maintains effective relationships with department heads and administrative staff. Work closely with multiple departments, including but not limited to, nutrition, nursing, case management, ancillary services, environmental services and medical staff.</p><p>- Oversees the management of the department budget. Make budgetary recommendations to entity leadership. Identify cost savings within the operation. Manage of labor expenses against productivity.</p><p>- Provide oversight for all personnel actions in the department including, but not limited to, recruitment, performance management, professional development, career advancement, work schedules/staff deployment, employee records, etc. Demonstrate strong supervisory, leadership, management and coaching skills.</p><p>- Establish effective relationships with external agencies providing services to the organization.</p><p>- Responsible for developing and implementing departmental education programs and strategies to achieve a high level of patient, guest and employee satisfaction.</p><p>- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.</p><p><b>Education, Competencies and Credentials: </b></p><p>- High School Diploma or equivalent required.</p><p>- Degree from an accredited/certified culinary school preferred.</p><p>- Minimum of five years of leadership and management experience in food services required, 3 years in a healthcare setting is required.</p><p>- ServSafe Certified required. This includes documentation related to medication distribution, leisure activities, incidents and observations, charting any changes in resident's physical condition and or behaviors, visitors, etc. Observes and documents the health and emotional condition of each resident, promptly reporting all changes to the supervisor.</p><p>6. Maintains the cleanliness and organization of the medicine supply room.</p><p>7. Receives reports on all residents.</p><p>8. Completes an accurate accounting of all medications, including controlled substances as per policy.</p><p>9. Assists with completion of medication cart audits per policy and direction of supervisor.</p><p>10. Provides direct resident care.</p><p>11. Follows procedures regarding incidents/accidents involving residents. This job description represents an overview of the responsibilities for the above referenced position.
